Lead Pastor: Ken Jung

Ken (PhD, University of Bristol, England) has been serving in ministry and education all around the world for the past two decades (Southern California, Hong Kong, England, New York, Bay Area). He has also been an adjunct teacher in theology, religion, and philosophy. One of Ken's passions includes training national pastors and leaders. The author of Go Deeper: Encountering God's Passion (2014), Ken also maintains a blog on spiritual formation called Renewing Eli.

Ken joined Pathway as the Lead Pastor in July 2015 along with his wife Peggy, and their two sons, William and Timothy.

Youth & Worship Pastor: Tim Lee

Tim was born in Chicago but raised in the Bay Area. He earned a BA in Music with an emphasis in Jazz Voice, along with a minor in math from SFSU and a MAR in Biblical Studies from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. He married his highschool sweetheart, Yumi, in 2005 and has two children, Emi and Aki.

His favorite foods are his wife’s homecooked Japanese food, Choco tacos (perfectly engineered for every bite to be a balanced dessert experience)... and all of the mama and papa shops in San Francisco. A favorite passages is psalm 127.

Adult Ministries Pastor: Matt Kwan


Matt and his wife Brandy, parents of seven children ranging from adult to elementary school age, were married in 1991. The Kwan family has called Pathway Community Church their home since 1997 after Matt’s oldest daughter met Pastor Brian’s youngest daughter. The two girls became best friends and the invitation to Pathway ensued. 



Matt is currently enrolled in the Master of Divinity program at Western Seminary in Santa Clara, CA.  Matt graduated with a B.S. in Applied Art and Design from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA.  In addition to pastoring at Pathway, Matt is on the executive team of Sandbox Studio, a commercial photography and production studio he co-founded 21 years ago.

FOUNDERS: Brian and Gina Owyoung

Pathway Community Church was founded in 1997 after Brian and Gina Owyoung felt called to start a new church in Castro Valley. A handful of families began meeting in in the Owyoung's living room before eventually moving to Creekside Middle School in Castro Valley. In 2007, Pathway moved to San Ramon for 5 years before settling in its current location in Dublin, CA in 2012.

Brian and Gina retired from ministry in 2015 after faithfully serving at Pathway as Senior Pastor and Children's Ministry Director for 18 years. They leave behind a legacy of an exciting children's ministry, a vision focused on loving Jesus and sharing his compassion to the world, and a culture of empowering and training new leaders to serve God. They have, along with their 4 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, have left an amazing imprint of love driven by faith in Jesus Christ.
