True Worshipers Sing
Main Point: While we constantly try to separate our culture's dependance on music for worship, it is important for us to realize how essential it is for us to sing. Emotions are a God given gift and when they are used well and focused for God's glory, something like singing a song allows one to process, express, and learn from our heart's song. True Worshipers will worship God in Spirit and in truth, focusing on sound lyrics while pouring out joy, conviction, heartache, anger, and more through our hearts and to God's Spirit. The biggest question is not "can you sing?" but "WILL you sing to God?"

Ephesians 5:15-21 (NET)
Live Wisely
5:15 Therefore be very careful how you live – not as unwise but as wise,5:16 taking advantage of every opportunity, because the days are evil.5:17 For this reason do not be foolish, but be wise by understanding what the Lord’s will is. 5:18 And do not get drunk with wine, which is debauchery, but be filled by the Spirit, 5:19 speaking to one anotherin psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music in your hearts to the Lord, 5:20 always giving thanks to God the Father foreach other in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5:21 and submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Colossians 3:15-17 (NET)
3:15 Let the peace of Christ be in control in your heart (for you were in fact called as one body to this peace), and be thankful. 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and exhorting one another with all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, all with grace in yourhearts to God. 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

“Let us remember that the very power of singing was given to human nature chiefly for this purpose, that our own warmest affections of soul might break out into natural or divine melody, and that the tongue of the worshipper might express his own heart.”
Isaac Watts (1674– 1748)
