Generous Giving is a Community Worship Experience
1 Corinthians 16:1-2
   Now concerning the collection for the saints: as I directed the churches of Galatia, so you also are to do. 2 On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come.
 
1. Command/Exhortation
“I directed the churches…” (16:1)
“…so you also are to do.” (16:1)
 
2. Universal: Churches
“I directed the churches of Galatia, so you also…” (16:1)
 
3. When: Every Sunday (first day): the day of worship
“On the first day of every week…” (16:2)
 
4. Who: Everyone who follows Christ
“…each of you is to put something aside…” (16:2)
 
5. What: Generously giving is part of our weekly worship
“On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up…” (16:2)
 
6. Christians gathered on Sunday; generously giving was part of the community worship experience (words, praising, prayer, fellowship).
 
7. How Much? Financial resources and act of worship (cf. 2 Cor 9:6-15)
“…put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper…” (16:2)
 
Act of worship, in response to God’s grace, and to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
 
8. Teaching: Not under Force or Guilt (cf. 2 Cor 9:7)
“On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside…so that there will be no collecting when I come.” (16:2)
